Girl, We're Talking Collagen and HA!

Do You Need COLLAGEN Supplements? Yes but with added HA (hyaluronic acid)!

More and more people are relying on collagen supplements as a daily part of their skincare regime. But should you consider adding one into your routine? Here’s my guide, to help you decide.

As the ‘master of skin texture’, my work is skin focused. And as you’ll know if you’ve sat in my make-up or esthetician chair, I always take the approach if your skin isn't great change up your skincare and know makeup can only do so much, and then I go into the health of skin besides your skincare. Collagen, the most abundant protein in our body, plays a crucial role in providing structure and elasticity to our skin, bones, joints, and tissues. However, as we get older, our body's collagen production decreases, resulting in wrinkles, joint pain, and other signs of aging. This has led to the popularity of collagen supplements, but do you truly require them?

What is collagen? Collagen is a protein that is found in the connective tissues of our body. It makes up about one-third of all the protein in our body and is responsible for providing strength and support to our tissues, as well as helping with the formation of new cells. There are over 20 different types of amino acids that make up collagen. They are essential for the formation of collagen and are found in high concentrations in collagen-rich foods like bone broth and gelatin.

One of the most well-known benefits of collagen is its ability to improve the appearance of our skin. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen AND less HA (hyaluronic acid), which can lead to wrinkles, sagging skin, and a loss of elasticity. By supplementing with collagen and HA, we can help to restore the levels of this important protein in our skin, which can lead to a more youthful and radiant appearance.

FUN FACT: Most of my products developed for you starts with or has an abundance of Organic Aloe Vera. Do you know why? Organic Aloe has 20 amino acids that topically aide your skin cells. Also, aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids besides amino acids.

Not a coincidence my friend!

Collagen & HA has also been shown to help reduce joint pain and stiffness, making it a popular supplement for athletes and those with arthritis or other joint conditions. It is important for gut health and digestion.

Which one to choose? Collagen supplements come in various forms, including powders, capsules, and drinks. They can be made from different sources, such as bovine, fish, or chicken collagen. The most common types of collagen supplements are Type I, II, and III collagens. Type I collagen is the most abundant type of collagen in our body and is found in our skin, bones, and tendons. It provides structure and support to these tissues and helps to keep them strong and flexible. Type II collagen is mainly found in cartilage and helps to cushion and protect our joints. Type III collagen is found in our skin and organs and helps to maintain their elasticity and firmness. The collagen I choose to take has 5 types of collagen from 5 different food sources and does not contain shellfish but has so many other goodies in it like HA.

Codeage, great skin, Face It Skin, collagen

My favorite and most effective collagen I have found is Codeage. Codeage Multi Collagen Platinum is a high-quality collagen powder supplement offers up 5 types of collagen peptides, biotin 10,000 mcg, hydrolyzed keratin, vitamins B6, C, and D3, hyaluronic acid, pantothenic acid, niacin, and 18 amino acids all-in-one. I mean why have just collagen? Take collagen that packs a punch with all the great "other" things our skin needs! I also buy the chocolate as it has MCT oil (energy support) in it and alternate the two! Keep in mind that while collagen supplements can be helpful, they are not a an overnight solution for all signs of ageing and you should also focus on your diet, skincare regime and lifestyle to ensure the best possible outcomes. Every morning I add one of these to my coffee to start my day off right.

How do collagen supplements work? Collagen supplements work by providing your body with the amino acids it needs to build new collagen proteins. The proteins can then be used in various parts of your body to improve skin elasticity, reduce joint pain, and improve overall health. Now, add HA to collagen and you have started aiding in the function of moisture to the skin, eyes, and joints. Hyaluronic acid benefits may include smoother skin texture, and anti-aging effects. You are probably already wearing it on the outside, Luxe Potion, so wear it on the inside for these added benefits.

Now the products your taking should be high quality without breaking the bank! When you are wearing high quality skincare and ingesting high quality collagen the results show from the inside and out! Your skin is as big as you, it's your largest organ and a beautiful barrier that protects everything. What are you doing to protect it?

Is collagen safe to take? Collagen supplements are generally considered safe to take, but there may be some side effects depending on the type of collagen and the person taking it. It’s important to talk to your doctor before starting collagen supplements if you have any underlying health conditions.

How about natural alternatives? If you want to avoid collagen supplements, you can try eating a diet rich in collagen-boosting foods, such as bone broth, salmon, and leafy greens. You can also improve collagen production by getting enough sleep, reducing stress, and protecting your skin from the sun.

Face It Skin, tea, health

Healthy from the inside out are all about our choices. Make yourself a priority. Drink half your body weight in water and try different types of teas as water can get boring. Do take collagen that contains other great ingredients to support skin and joints better, exercise to get blood pumping to give you that natural glow and to keep skin firm, and lastly...you know I'm going to say it...wear great skincare and makeup that benefit skin and not cover this beautiful organ! Let it shine and glow.
